My Grandpa would have been 88 today. Grandpa continues to be a source of inspiration for me. I am very lucky because he was like an extra dad for me. In a very good way. He didn't try to take my dad's place, but his wisdom was always available, and his love was never deniable.
He was a good man, who loved his wife, his kids, his grandkids and his great-grandkids with reckless abandon. Very late in his life, he came to love Jesus and was obedient to the Gospel. I had the privilege of baptizing him into Christ in July of 1997. He died of esophogeal cancer in September of that year.
Today, I just want to reflect on Grandpa, and on his impact in my life. His impact in the lives of my kids, and my wife, and I want to let everyone know that I think of him often, I love him dearly, and I hope I can be half the man he was.
